The Cimarron Bluejay Invitational Tournament was my most significant accomplishment for the previous year. I took part in the three-point competition and won. I felt very alive, as well as accomplished. I went into the contest not expecting to win, yet I did. Everyone’s attention was on me at that point, and they all knew who I was. This was also my first time taking part in it, and I succeeded.
My parents and friends were so proud of me and that was one of the best feelings ever. Ever since I was a little kid, I always wanted to go to college. High school was just a stepping stone to get me there and now that it’s my senior year, it’s finally here. It’s been my dream to go to college and get a degree ever since I can remember.
My parents didn’t go to college and they always told me that if they could go back, they would’ve gone to college. So, in a way, I feel like I’m doing this for them too. They’ve always been supportive of me and my dreams and I know they’ll continue to be there for me as I embark on this new journey.
I’m not sure what I want to major in yet but I’m leaning towards business or something in the medical field. I’ve always been good with numbers and people so I think either of those two would be a good fit for me. I know that college will be a challenge but I’m ready for it. I’m excited to learn new things and meet new people. I know that this scholarship would help me out a lot and I really appreciate it.
Basketball has altered my life for the better in many ways. I’ve learnt to be on time for appointments and, having a coach that pushes us to do our best, he’s taught me to give 100 percent in everything I do. This has also helped me make well-informed judgments.
I have also been able to meet new people and build important relationships that will help me later in life. Because of basketball, I have been able to stay out of trouble and stay focused on my goals.
I am currently a senior in high school and I am looking forward to attending college next year. My goal is to become a civil engineer so that I can help to build better communities.
